Welcome to the official
Frequently Asked Questions for the Art Nudes Blog.
It is very important to consult
this before submitting links or requesting reciprocal links. Alternately, if you are just curious
about this blog and want to know a bit of its history, philosophy, etc. you
will find it here.

Submissions
Q. I am a photographer/know of a photographer and I want
to submit my/their site to be on your blog. What do I need to do?
A. I am
always looking for fresh links and the opportunity to provide exposure to
fellow fine art nude photographers.
Most of the time, you can simply email me the website address using the
link on the top right hand side of the blog and I will review it for
suitability. However, there are
important conditions that can save you the pain of rejection. Please read on:
The following types of
sites are almost never accepted:
Erotica: This means sites whose primary objective is titillation.
Unless there is something really
exceptional about the photography, this blog does not feature work with a
strongly sexual theme. There is no
shortage of other venues on the web for that type of work.
Glamour: Bikinis, lingerie, and Playboy style
photography. Exposed skin does not
equal fine art.
Pay Sites: Art Nudes does not promote sites with subscription or
members only galleries. The only
exceptions would be if there is significant and worthwhile free content
available on the site, and it better be pretty darn good.
Quality Control:
Q. I have
been doing photography for a month now and have got some really great digital
photos of my girlfriend that I turned green, orange and blue with Photoshop and
put up on a free hosted website.
Can you post my work?
A. While I like to encourage emerging photographers, sometimes the work
that is submitted just is not in the same league as other work posted here and
does not make the cut. Even if the
link you submitted does not fall into one of the categories above, it still has
to pass by the cruel and judgmental curator. If your work is not posted, you can call me a jerk and then
keep on practicing and improving.
Reciprocal
Links
Q. I am the webmaster of Hot XXX D-Cup Babes with Garden
Tools and I love your site. Want
to trade links?
A. Nope
Q. Aw, come on, how come? I can send hundreds of hits your way every day!
A. Sorry, the same rules apply for reciprocal links as
for regular posts. No pay sites,
no porn, no glamour, etc.
Q. What if I run a blog that is all about my interests in turnip farming
and Japanese netsuke collecting and I have added a link to your site. Will you reciprocate?
A. Quite possibly.
Something like this would appear in the Friends of Art Nudes section.
Q. I am a
fine art photographer and I have added a link to you from my webpage. Will you add me to the permalinks on
your blog?
A. This is entirely at my discretion.
The permalinks section is reserved for photographers who I know
personally, or whose work I particularly admire. Odds are good you will get a posting on the main section
though.
Advertising
Q. Will you accept paid advertising of any kind?
A. I would consider developing a sponsor section. However, it would be a plain text link
only and should not advertise pornographic or objectionable material. This site generates in the area of
90,000 unique visitors a month, so it could be a golden opportunity for
someone. If you are interested,
contact me and we can talk.
General
Information
Q. Who runs this blog?
A. The founder and primary curator of this site is
Michael Barnes, a semi-professional photographer based in Victoria, British
Columbia. Occasionally, posts are made
by UK photographer and university professor, Eric Kellerman. He currently resides in the Netherlands.
Professional photographer Brooks Ayola from California has also been known to
put up a post now and then as well as providing html advice. Last but certainly not least, Honourary
Editor Mariana P. is a blogger from Lisbon, Portugal who routinely sends in
content. Links to all our personal
sites can be found on the main page.
Q. Why do you do it?
A. What started out as a fun project to use the blogger
technology to post the dozens of photography sites I had bookmarked turned into
a terrific opportunity to connect with likeminded photographers around the
world. It is also a great way to
provide exposure to worthwhile photographers and inspiration to others at the
same time. I have made lots of
friends and had contact with photographers whose work I have admired for years.
Furthermore, this blog has been the catalyst for other photographers around the
world meeting both in person and via email. In short, I do it because I enjoy it. There is no real cash incentive, and
that is what makes it so easy not to compromise when it comes to link
exchanges, pop-ups, advertising, and the like.
Q. When did it start?
A. This
blog started Feb. 16, 2003 and has received nearly 1.5 million unique visitors
since then.
Q. What is the daily traffic like?
A. We are
currently getting between 5000 and 5500 unique visitors a day.
